In 1932, he earned a scholarship to study at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Upon returning to Vietnam he taught at the École Supérieure des Beaux Arts de l'Indochine in Hanoi. In 1937, he came back to Paris where he resided until the time of his death - one of four EBAI graduates who made a career in Paris, including Mai Trung Thứ, Vũ Cao Đàm and woman painter Lê Thị Lựu.〔Arts of Asia: Volume 39 "Mai Thu...
